Welcome to WileyWays Mastiffs home on the world-wide web. While this website is continually being updated, we hope that you enjoy visiting our mastiff family! Although we show our dogs they are members of our family first and foremost and are all very dear to us.
Please feel free to
with any questions.
My husband and I have enjoyed sharing our home with mastiffs since we purchased our first mastiff, Prime Minister Winston, (pictured here at 9 years of age) in 1991. We fell in love with this gentle/noble breed and began showing competitively in conformation. We are focusing our hobby breeding program on temperament, soundness, health and type. When we do a breeding it is to keep something for ourselves to show and love. A stable temperament is extremely important in a breed of this size and we also genetically test our mastiffs for hereditary problems. We feel that an ethical/responsible breeder only breeds to improve the breed by utlizing genetic testing in their breeding programs and by showing their dogs. If a breeder shows their dogs it proves that their mastiffs do not have any disqualifying faults that would prohibit them from being shown and also that they are of sound enough mind to go into new, noisy, and crowded places filled with people and dogs. Of course this does not guarantee that every puppy that is produced will be perfect but we do feel that it is the most responsible way to try to produce sound/healthy puppies whether they are just a loving family member or a show dog as well. When we do place any of our mastiff babies we want wonderful, loving permanent homes for them where they will be treated as members of their new families. However, if at some point in time for any reason a home can no longer care for one of our mastiff babies (no matter what their age) we will always make room for them with us.
If you are considering adding a mastiff to your family please be sure to research the breed thoroughly since mastiffs are not the breed for everyone. Take the time to meet several mastiffs in person and spend time with them before making your decision. There are also several very good Mastiff books available as well that will assist you in your research. Some things to consider about the mastiff breed are that they can be very expensive to have, love and own. Flea, tick, heartworm preventative and any medications are all much more expensive for a Giant Breed than they are for a smaller dog. Other considerations are that medical bills are higher due to their size, they do shed even though they are a relatively short coated breed, they do drool and make keeping your house spotless impossible, they grow very large, usually have a shorter life span due to their size, and are more prone to giant breed health problems (hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, etc). However, they are a wonderful breed that are gentle natured and make terrific companions. Before getting any pet be sure to do all of your homework for their benefit and yours as well.
If you would like more information about the mastiff breed or the wonderful mastiffs that share their lives with us feel free to

Sincerely,
Denise and Scott Wiley
